Greek Orthodox Easter Candles Lambades
Handmade with Love. Carried with Faith.
Easter is the holiest celebration in the Greek Orthodox faith. And no moment captures it more purely than standing in a darkened church on Holy Saturday night, candle in hand, waiting for the Holy Light.
At Stella Weddings & Baptisms, we have been helping Greek Orthodox families prepare for Pascha since 2009. Our Easter Lambades are handmade, thoughtfully designed, and crafted to honor a tradition that has been passed down through generations.
Whether you are shopping for your child, your godchild, or yourself — we have a Lambada that is made for you.
What Is a Greek Orthodox Easter Candle?
The Easter candle — known as the Lambada (λαμπάδα) — is carried to the Anastasi service on Holy Saturday night. As midnight strikes, the priest emerges with the Holy Light and proclaims Christos Anesti — Christ is Risen. The flame is passed from candle to candle until the entire church glows.
It is one of the most powerful moments in the Orthodox faith. The Lambada you carry is part of that moment.
Many families carry their lit candle home and use the flame to make the sign of the cross above the front door — a blessing for the household that is said to last throughout the year.
